Back from paint

Back from Zag's, George and John did a phenomenal job rehanging the doors, fitting the front and rear bumpers, mirrors and the complete respray. Fabbed up and installed towhooks for free too.

Front 74RS narrowbody front and rear bumpers from MA Shaw
CF Aero mirrors from MA Shaw
Its getting martini stripes in vinyl next...almost ready for the track!

Sweating bullets while loading it up.

Fraulein and car. Both made in Germany.

Me with George and John from Zag's

Nice hiney.

Sie Fraulein kommen mit deiner Auto?

Just kidding. Awesome pics, congrats on getting your car done up right.

How did the wing hold up be transported down the highway like that? I'm afraid to tow mine unless it is enclosed. I'm just not willing to let the potential of air resistance damaging mine. I may have an unfounded fear though.

Enjoy your ladies ;o)

The car looks beautiful, JohnJL. Looks like Zaq's did a first class job.

Thanks Matt and Mike.

I towed the car from Melbourne like that (I was concerned at first too) for ~900kms at a top speed of 110kms. I towed it again today like that topspeed 100kms and again, no problems.

The car needs to be in that orientation to get the COG over the axels on my trailer. I'm sure it brings a lot of drag too.

When I was shopping for a trailer the guys I spoke with all recommended against an enclosed trailer unless you are going to do it right...don't buy used because they are built with aluminum and quite lightly and so don't last long and you don't just get the value. If you go enclised I was told to go new and go heavy-duty, meaning a full-sized towing rig.

Now the car is up here I'll not be towing more than 2 hours at a time, I tow with a Kluger (Toy Highlander) or my 1974 FJ40 and I don't run in the rain so no need for enclosed for me.

Hey John,
SHE'S A BEAUTY!
What year?
How did you find one in such excellent shape, with no body damage? How does she handle?
Could I take a peek under the hood?
Can I take her for a spin?
Oh, the car looks good too.

Bryan, thanks. It says Carrera 3.0 and is a Japanese import. The engine however is significantly updated. Same displacement but DR20 cams, boatailed mains, 11:1 CR JE pistons, twin-plugged ignition and Megasquirt. Carrera tensioners, etc.

The, you wish! The nose is strikingly similar tho, I'll give you that.

Thanks Charles. I am second-guessing adding the stripes but I do love how they look. Have contacted Mike/NBD Graphics...

Some more pics requested;

Now who was it that said you should always go for the newest model you can afford, and the best example within that year?

Would you happen to know the source for the rear bumper? Looks nice and clean.

Thanks guys. Yes, the Highlander is known as a "Kluger" here. Has to be the second worst name, next to a Nova or Pajero (check your Mexican Spanish for those!) Its basically a Camry with big wheels. I hate it, the ex-wife picked it out.

Especially appropriate when you pronounce it like it supposed to..."klooG-er" As in an ugly, awkward, smashed together solution.

The rear bumper is also MA Shaw, RS rear. Its about 20kg lighter than the original, including all hardware. George from Zag, who does just about nothing but older 911's, was particularly smitten.
I can't wait for my first 'blockie'

Your car looks great - the guys at Zag's look like they did a great job. I need to get some paint work done (front and rear bumpers) so I might give them a call. Could you PM me the contact details.

Also, I'm looking to get some 3.0RS graphics from Mike at NBG for mine. Don't know if there is much to be saved in sharing shipping costs but would be happy to combine if interested.

The car looks great. And I have to say, I've never a car tied down quite that way.
