Installed the GHL muffler I bought from a pelicaner

Just finished the install, minus the pain and suffering removing my old muffler I am incredibly happy with the sound and tone. Just enough grunt and rumble to draw attention but not enough to be obnoxious. The tip sits correct but there looks to be just a little tilt to the muffler from the rear, I will adjust later when I get some time and more light.

Thanks Steve for the fast shipping...

Anyone need a stock muffler???

Can't wait to drive to work tomorrow.

D.Brisson,

Can you tell me more about your stock muffler?

I am looking for a good conditioned stock one for my '81 SC

You must be referring to GHL Single Out muffler, as I have the Dual Out version, and it most certainly IS obnoxious (not that there is anything wrong with that). My wife keeps asking me when I am going to put a stock muffler on the car, but I keep telling her it is too expensive...

I concur, I have a 2in 2out GHL and its very loud and there is a horrible res at about 2500 rpm.

in all honesty Most 2 out muffler experience res at some rpm just depends on the brand and what rpm you cruise at. Typically the 2 out muffler drone at 2100-2600 again depending on brand. Some have narrowed it down to just a 100 rpm that it occurs at some are all over the place

I will post pics when I get home today. Yes its a 1 in 1 out, I want to eventually update to ssi and 2 in 2 out or 1 in 2 out with cat bypass but this opportunity presented itself and I couldn't be happier so far.

The stock muffler looks good but has one cut where I needed to cut the bolts off and the grinder blade contacted the pipe. Nothing I cant weld and make look new. For the exterior it looked and sounded good with no rattling or majot rust.

Well the plan is to get your fantastic sport muffler this winter and put it on so my hope is it will be better than the GHL.

That was my GHL that D.Brisson bought. There was absolutely ZERO resonance with that particular muffler throughout any part the rev range. If the muffler's not sitting level as viewed from the rear, loosen the muffler at the cat and play with the muffler clamps to get it level. Then go back and tighten the muffler at the car. If you're not satisfied with the angle of the tailpipe after the adjustments, you can loosen that single clamp and play with the angle and length of the tailpiple. Glad you're happy......I was just hoping that nothing got damaged in the shipping process..
