Great Instructions, quarter window seal install
This is by far the most accurate post on the installation of the quarter window gasket for an early 911 (mine a 1967.) Jim Richards, excellent diagram, really helped with my installation. Thanks! Some Photos post installation.

For the record
Just to make a small note for this thread for archives....
By far the best advice I received on this topic was to use WD 40 on the rubber for lubricant instead of soapy water - it took me 5 minutes tops to install the whole seal. I am amazed at the difference. |
I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'm going to anyway.
When you guys reinstalled your vent windows, have you ever run into this problem? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1304694364.jpg I cannot figure out how to get the windows aligned properly so that they will close. Both of my rear vent windows are this way. I purchased the car last Oct and both windows leak badly and I can't seem to find a hint to re-adjust them. I've taken them out and re-intstalled and I just don't get it. Here is a link to a previous thread, I have the spacers on order, but that does't fix my alignment issue. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/427267-window-adjustments.html#post5978203 Thanks! |
and washing up liquid works extremely well too.
I found the short piece of the rubber, where there are the two attachments for screwing the window back in, particularly difficult - but finally (and sore thumbs later) the washing up liquid took 3 seconds to do .. |
Best lesson..........
That I learned about reinstalling the rear qtr windows is to put the front edge in first and rope in the small end! Tried doing it the other way around and just could not get everything "right". Pulled the glass out, installed the front edge and the rear, tapered end just popped into place!
