Back from Florida

Hi guys, I just got back from my three week vacation to Florida. We had alot of fun on the drive down, needless to say. The car gave me no problems, didn't even burn ANY oil the whole trip there, and back! I'm surprised because on the same trip with my Corrado VR-6 last year, I put in half a litre every time I filled the tank (650km)!
I also enjoyed the fact that my Porsche has very good highway fuel economy, this is something I couldn't experiment with before because of the fact that I live in the city. I managed 800 to 900 kilometres per 18.5 gallons/tank (nice mix of metric and us).
On the way to Miami from Clearwaater, there is a long straight highway called Alligator Alley. This is where I floored the car and pulled to 248 km/h. It would probably go more but I was scared that a cop would pullout in front of me! I also expected my girlfriend to be scared but she was actually reaching for the movie camera!
On a not so happy note, I blew the A/C compresser on the way to Florida,(North Carolina) so the rest of the trip and back was with no A/C. Oh well, you can't have your cake and eat it too!

Sorry about the A/C. Nice to hear that it went well otherwise though.

Jeez, Mike, didn't anybody ever tell you you're supposed to have the engine idling when you turn the A/C on ... NOT turning 6500 rpm?

Sounds like a nice trip, nevertheless!

Thanks everyone! Warren, the a/c compresser broke way before that, in North Carolina!

Is that a partially facetious remark about being at idle when turning on the air? I can understand the 6500. I've never heard that comment before; does the clutched compressor make a difference ?
