floor pan coating - guess the weight

I'm taking a sample of scraped up floor to work tomorrow to get an estimate of how much the coating weighs. I estimate the floor pan coating covers a little over 14 sqft. Anyone care to guess at the weight before I post the data? Does anyone already have this info for that matter?

I guess 0.25 lbs/sq. ft. or 3.5 lbs total.

I don't, but I'm scraping mine off slowly and after I scraped off the front passenger footwell area (let's say 20% of the total) into a five gallon pail, I estimated the contents of that pail at 5 pounds. So by my reckoning there will be 25 pounds total - strictly a wild a$$ guess.

Please post your data...I'm curious for sure.

Yeah, the fact that it weighed so damn much is what prompted me to do this. It was surprising to me!

I just scraped the interior of my 74 BMW 2002...weighed in at 30lbs even.

I'm guessing 30lbs.

I remember reading somewhere that somebody who'd removed his soundproofing saved all the pieces, weighed them and got 17 pounds. It might have been in Bruce Anderson's book...

I did te same when I built my RX-7..came to about 25 pounds. It's one of things you have to think hard about. It DOES make the car better sounding on the street...and the weight is low.

I just did this and in my 68 I removed 28 pounds of material, this includes the floor, rear seats and deck. There was easily another pound or so of stuff that went into the vaccum after grinding it down to metal.

When I ripped out my interior, I recall coming across a lot of...something. It was sort of gooey/gunky and came up with a spatula. It was substantial, but I don't think quite 25 pounds. Maybe later Porsches received more of it than the earlier cars.

I scraped out the front and rear passenger footwell area insulation on my 87 and it ended up weighing 7.9 Lbs. This ends up being a 1 hour per pound project.

How much was it total?

Note the other posts are giving info from various areas - when I looked at a '71 it was the stuff 'under' the rear seats that was really heavy.

Didn't weight it all, just a sample. The idea occurred to me after I disposed of half of it. My coating was pretty uniform, so if you know the area, you have the whole weight.
