Radar Detectors/K-40 vs. Valentine vs.?

Anyone out there who knows anything about a so-called K-40? I've always thought the detector to get is the Valentine One, but a shop around here (Seattle) is pumping up their stealth install of a K-40 system, with laser detection that is supposedly "unmatched". As far as I know, there's no law against detectors in Washington, but a series of very subtle dash lights and separate speakers seems like a cool thing.

Assuming it is made by the same company, someone there must be 'hung-up' on the K-40 model designation, because there was one 15-20 years ago with that same designation!!! My 15-year old Passport was significantly better back then when Mike Valentine was at Cinncinnati Microwave, and from what I have read about him since starting his own company, the Valentine One is probably the best around, currently!

I have heard taht the Valentine One is the best, hands down. It is priced accordingly.

But then, aren't radar detectors for people who deliberately violate the law by exceeding the posted speed limit?

Tha's a slow, fat one over the plate, Superman. Of course not: radar detectors are for those who look for every opportunity to remind themselves that they may inadvertantly be going over the speed limit, and to reduce their speed accordingly. A safety net, as it were. And nobody I've ever met is ALWAYS aware, at every possible moment, of his or her speed. Yet everybody I've ever met would like to avoid speeding tickets. A good detector just makes that a little bit easier.

I'm glad this is over the net cause if it was in the flesh, I'd have to roll up my pant legs for you I-5 corridor guys. Not you Warren just these two from up here in the good ol' Pacific Northwest.
