Porsche Crest

Dave,

The yellow lenses were never available for Bosch H4 assemblies from Porsche or Bosch. For the French market Porsche offered yellow-tinted H4 bulbs -- only!

edit ... Aftermarket yellow lenses of poor-quality plastic have been available for a few years for both H1 and H4 assemblies from the 'other' PP paper catalog.

little pricey at $60-70. i like Dave Nordhoff's idea plus add some clear stoneguard film on your own to protect the glass

I think you've seen H1's or the plastic ones. I've had all 3: OEM French H1's, glass repros and the plastic ones. They all differ from each other in a few ways. I don't know about thin covers, just the lenses themselves.

I found a picture of what I think are Bosch H4 yellow lenses. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I also installed lamin-x on my H4's. The sharp compound curves are a challenge and, of course, the film cannot be easily removed. So far, I have not been stopped by any police. The nighttime headlight intensity is fine.

Yellow

I have a set of Hella H-4 yellow lenses on my '73. If you're going to do it do it right.

Think eBay

I found mine several years ago on eBay. A guy in Europe had a bunch of them. they came in brand new Hella boxes and everything.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=006&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=160049320154&rd=1,1

alternatively I have H4 halogen yellow bulbs which look faintly yellow when lights are off and increase in intensity as you get closer to the lens , then with the lights on they are a great euro look yellow....sorry car away in garage so cant post a pic !

Stupid question I've never seen asked nor answered: do the yellow lights actually functionally improve contrast to aid in night-time vision, or is it just an aesthetic thing? I have to imagine it's functional, given its presence in racing. And if it is, is there an actual optical color temperature that is required, or will anything in the yellow ballpark work?

Dave, you mentioned Stone Guard film to me yesterday for the brace; where can I buy some locally?
