shift bushing help

I can't figure out how the two bushings come out of the shift coupler.
I have detached it from the back with the allen key and I cannot see how the ceter pin would come out.
Am I crazy?

The cross-pin is a friction fit in the center block ...and you have to remove the coupler from the shift rod. Be sure to mark the axial and longitudinal position with an indelible 'Sharpie' marker.

Only method I have ever used is easy & safe ... unlike pounding with heavy mallets or hammers!

1. Medium-to-large bench vise is used as a press ...

2. From your collection of deep 3/8" drive & 1/4" drive sockets select one large enough to allow pin to slip inside easily with adequate clearance, and another smaller than cross-pin O.D.

3. If vise is on the smallish size [4" or so] you may need both a regular and deep socket in each size.

4. Slip large socket over pin on one side, and align small socket with pin, and slide the 'sandwich' between vise jaws while tightening vise. Tighten vise slowly, making sure small socket stays aligned with axis of pin.

5. Assembly is essentially the reverse of the above.

I tried the mallet method. I ended up breaking the coupler.

Warren's advice, as always, is right-on.

Follow Warren's advice, I did mine the same way about 2 weeks ago and it worked like a charm.

Nice advise, I just did the ones at the shifter tonight(what a difference!) and I am thinking about going with the wevo coupler, what do you guys think about that one?
I still have to do the bushings there, so I figured why not just swap it.
