Short headers or long headers

I need to make a decision..

most of the headers i see on cars are long about 2' or more of tubing.

However didnt the 993 have really short headers

what are the pros and cons of Short vs Long headers?

Short and/or wide tend to move the power band up, long and/or narrow tend to move the power band down.

Of course the cams and configuration of the rest of the engine are intimately interdependant w/ the exhaust.

So short would require me to run Higher rpms to make the same/greater HP?

There would be a tendancy toward that, but again the headers are interactive w/ the heads, cams, valves, intake and mufflers.
