Will wet weather affect starting?

I just moved to Pensacola, Fl. and last night it rained like mad and the car was parked outside. This morning my '83 911 wont start. I mean it turns over but wont start. Does anyone think the rain could have affected the car since this is the first time it has seen rain in years? Further, what should I check out first in this regards? Thanks for your help.

It shouldn't but it can. When wet cars turn and turn and turn but show no signs of starting, there is at least a 90% probability that there is moisture inside the distributor cap. Take th cap off and wipe, wipe, wipe with a clean, dry cloth. wipe the rotor as well and the distributor body, as much as possible.

This is especially true if a car won't start after a visit to the coin operated pressure car wash.

Yup,
Also, If you get bad ignition wires wet you're in for tough wet weather starting.
