Beru connectors? (THANKS WARREN!!!)
After reading this bboard (thanks Pelican!), trying to hunt down the source of my '70 911's problems (rough idle, seems to be running on 5 at times) I checked the resistance of my spark plug connectors (muchos thanks to Warren for posting this a hundred times). Lo and behold, one of them is open -- infintite resistance. A nicely melted on bit of spark plug wire to boot. Fix that and I should be on my way. Two questions:
1) Where can I get new ones? They're not in Pelican's catalog, but I've e-mailed them to see if they can help. Any other ideas? I did see them in a catalog once, but at something like $25 a pop. Is that the going rate? 2) 2 of my good plugs test out at ~3k (2700 or so). 3 of my good plugs test out at ~1k. These are a different style and are marked at 1k (as is the dead one). As 3k is the nominal Z, my guess is the 1k jobs are replacements that the PO put on at some point. Any idea what this will do to the system? From what I can put together, it's not a good thing. This series resistance will a) limit the current, b) provide some isolation b/n the plugs and c) help dampen the circuit. Should I go ahead and replace these as well? At this point, do I just get a whole new set of wires ($70-$300 -- ouch!) Thanks in advance, Craig 2) |

I think you can get the beru connectors at http://www.*************** or http://www.************************. There actually the same company now. Gotta recommend Magnacore wires though. Put a set on my 78SC (replaced the steel braided ones), and the car runs great. http://www.magnecor.com/
