Just cut my fenders... A review

Hey guys,

New to the community, and i always enjoy reading others experences before i begin my own adventure.

I recently purchase a set of early offset cup I wheels. They wheels are right at the fender, but i like a low ride hight.

Here is what i did.

I took some masking tape and made a "cut line" on the fender lip.

With a friend handy, with a wet towl, I took a cut off wheel to the fender and slowly worked up the fender, taking about 1/8 off all the way around.

I then took a 3'' grinding wheel, and de bured the edges.

For finishing. I took 250 grit sand paper, and went around all sharp edges, untill they were rounded off.

My front lips are now about as wide as my rear, and i no longer have any rubbing issues!

I would do this before fender rolling any day, easy, and no risk of cracking your paint!

Hope this inspires.

Actually, it kinda frightens. (Assuming you are serious).

You gotta post some pics of this.

I will be sure to post up some pics. I talked to a local porsche performance place, and they said this is the best way to do it. Rolling the fenders usually leads to cracking.

Both my friend and I were impressed how well it came out.

Pics tomorrow.

Oh, I see, you just cut back the inner ledges/lips instead of rolling them up. I thought you cut back the actual fenders! I won't even begin to tell you what I was visualizing.

LOL, my bad.

You don't mention anything about repainting, though. Isn't that going to leave a lot of exposed metal? Would touch up paint be enough to protect it?

there really isnt much of any exposed metal except on the inner lip. I am going to just use some back touch up paint for protection. As long as it is covered i dont care. You cant see it unless you are laying on the ground!
