1987 911 color need help

I just purchased this dark blue, 1987 Porsche 911 and I want to buy some matching touch-up paint. The touch-up paint that came with the car, Marine Blue Metalic, is too dark. I can not find any place on the car body or any sticker with a color code where the color is listed. Any ideas?

Here's my 930, which according to the sticker on the pass side in the front luggage compartment, is marine blue. The pictures of my car were taken on a cloudy day, but it looks like we might have the same color, especially since your's is also a 1987.

Hope it helps...

Looks like my marine blue one.....touch up paint is often not exact match....I suggest going to a paint supply store with a part removed from your car to see what will work. I have some duplicor touch up paint used for an american car that works well for me for minor touchup...

Don has a great suggestion. I ordered some touch up from paintscratch.com for my '88 Diamond Blue Metallic, and although it's 'close enough', any decent paint supply store could do just as good.

Thanks guys,
I peeled back the trunk liner and found the color sticker and it is exactly the same as the one in your photo, Garen. I've only been a Porsche owner for 9 days, but I'll bet that the easiest part to remove to take to the auto paint store would be the headlamp trim....correct?

Thanks again!!

Many folks use the gas filler 'lid/cover' as a painted part to 'match'...

Also, in case you weren't already aware, the 'metallic' colors also have a 'clear coat' on top.

Thanks Keith, The fuel cap it is! Yes, the paint I have has a bottle of clear coat with it. I'm going to really shake up the paint, paint it on a piece of dark cardboard for a test, and see if the metalic particles will lighten up the paint a little and then put some of the clear coat over it too. THANKS!
