front oil cooler fan thermoswitch change.
So my fan has gone from turning on for no reason to running pretty much full time. New thermoswitch time.
When I look at my oil cooler, it looks like the whole unit has to come out to put in a new fan thermoswitch. (The switch in on the forward side of the cooler.) What are the chances the oil lines are coming off without screwing up the treads? Is there an easier way? Can this be done without disconnecting the oil lines? Thanks,

yes, can be done without undoing any oil lines.

i used a little bottle jack to push carefully up on the body of the cooler to get up over the top bolt. That's the one that really holds it up there. once it's off the top bolt it hangs a couple inches lower. I removed the horns and the side marker light to get up to the thermo from the bottom. I think I came in from the side maker hole with the wrench.
BUT a friend and I did another one a little while ago and I don't remember removing the side marker or turn signal. |
