Aussie Pelican's - BITZRacing EFI Conversions

Hi guys,

I've been having no end of trouble with my CIS and am currently considering buying the BITZRacing EFI Conversion kit. Has anyone here in Australia (or NZ) installed this conversion kit?

I know there are a lot (and I mean a lot) of happy customers in the US, I'd like some local success stories to relieve my concerns about issues related to Aussie fuels and the impacts of our local climatic conditions.

I'm sorry to hear that you've not had any success with the CIS. I'd recommend a phone call to my mechanic before you dump a few thou into efi. I wouldn't usually say this but your symptoms sound pretty much identical to what mine were. Having said that, if you do go the efi route I'd love to hear how you find the end result. :)

I am having MS2 issues...to the point of having sent it to Peter Florance, he checked it and confirmed everything worked...but now back in the car i CANNOT get a tach signal...

I was quoted $a1700 by Alan at Adaptronic today for all hardware, installation and 3 hours on the dyno...

Thanks gavin, have PM'd you.

John, I assume you're saying you bought the MegaSquirt 2 ECU from BITZRacing, but bought the hardware locally? Is that right?

What does the "$a1700 for all hardware, installation and 3 hours on the dyno..." relate to?

How does the engine perform though?

I've fitted the M/S to my 3litre carrera and am having a problem with the car flooding if I stall it.There is no TPS in Tonys' system and as a consequence no flood clear.
When I first fitted the system I got a gain of 9Kw at the rear wheels.
If you only intend to use the car for street work or say spirited driving with the local club then I would stay with the CIS or use a local ECU and make up a kit from the parts that you can buy locally. I have been told that the GMH units can be converted to fit but you will probably have hassles getting a TPS to fit.
The beauty of using local products is that there will be someone who can tune the car.

I have struggled with the MS2 EFI coversion for more than a year. The car was drivable but always had small issues that I could never quite work out. I was driving up to have Peter Florance look at it when it broke down and would not restart. I am now converting over to carbs. I will go back to the MS2 someday, perhaps after a few more years of others further developing the system.

Just to let people know that the folks running MegaSquirt 2 (MS2) are not from me (BITZ Racing).

I have NOT introduced these into the 911 kit because they are fairly new and I believe the software & hardware is not as mature as the MS ver1. MS1 hardware and software has been around for a long time and is very stable.

Cheers,

Tony

Richard,

Send me your configuration file (.msq) and I'll have a look. The cranking pulse width needs to be reduced for a warm engine to prevent flooding. Latest default configuration has this built in.

Cheers,

Tony

Thank you for mentioning us (NZ). I know you can't quite afford to buy the country just yet (dole cheques, handouts to Moaris...) but we are worth it.

It would be nice to stay with the CIS for another year or two until all the bugs had been sorted by someone else.
