Brake light activation switch

My brake lights don't come on on my 88 unless you really stomp on the pedal. Is the switch hydraulic or mechanically activated by the pedal movement, if so can it be adjusted. It's dangerous as it is because i can slow the car down quite a lot without warning people behind me. Gets me the finger evey time!

I know on the SC's they're pressure activated by one of two switches on the master cylinder.

There are two electrical switches that screw into the side of the master cylinder. I bought the Volkswagen version and they work fine ($3 VW vs. $15 Porsche). If you work quickly you will not have to bleed the brakes.
