HELP! need emergency oil line fix
 

I head to the track on thursday and just found this on my oil line. Was just starting when the thermostat opened up, about 2k rpm.

Can I just sweat this line with some lead and seal it back up, or is it doomed to be replaced? Its right at the joint of the tube to the fitting.

I have Belzona, which is a two part epoxy. I keep it in my track box just for this type of problem. If you take the line off, it should be silver soldered (I think).

The chance of getting a good solder on that is small. With some epoxy like Belzona (over priced if you ask me, but good stuff) you might get by for a little while. Some JB weld should work in a pinch.

The lines are brass and I have found them easy to braze.They would need to be empty and sanded clean though.

If you have access to Wurth Oil Resist sealant, it will get you thru the weekend. Amazing stuff. But clean the area very well with wirebrush and brakekleen solvent. Good luck!

I'd love to find the wurth oil resist sealant, but have no chance of finding it in this little burg in NC. Any domestic equivalents?

I'll have the stuff in line to pull the line off tomorrow if needed.

Push comes to shove, you can make a Aeroquip, Earls, etc. stainless steel line to replace it.

Yes, I'll be at VIR. Hope friday isn't rained out, but sat and sun look good.

Update....

I ended up pulling the rubber line off and pulling the line down into the fender, put a wet rag on top of the fender to keep it cool, then got the torch out and sweated the joint.

After 3 days on the track, not a single drip.

I was there, but didn't run the 1st two sessions Fri due to rain. The 2nd and 3rd sessions, I got a total of 5 laps. LOL. I just rebuilt my engine and had an oil leak that took some finding. Of course, I didn't find it until just before the 1st session on Sat. Got to run the next rest of the weekend though.
