Any IROC Replica's out there, if so post pics here
Thank you!
|
this is my current winter project right now. We are building it off of a 79 SC...mostly fiberglass but using steel flares for the rear. I was going to set it up with just a duck tail with a from the factory look but got a great deal on a IROC tail today, so I will be painting and running both setups... I'm pretty happy about this seen as how I couldn't make up my mind on which tail I wanted to use:) I will snap some pics this friday when I'm down at the shop..

Hi George,
I was wondering about your IROC project and how it was progressing. Sent a few PM's your way a while back.... Hope it's coming along... Here are a few pics of mine, I know that the tail was re-worked for the intercooler, but it still has the look of an IROC. Cheers, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164775264.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164775522.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164775552.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164775599.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164775624.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164775645.jpg |
Mike, your car is looking great!
Cheers |
Thanks Jeff. I like to think of my 930 as finished, but then I think of a few more things to "do" to it... :) I'm devoting my time to the 914 and the 2002, they have been neglected long enough. ;)
Post some pics of your 911 some time! I like looking at the trick stuff you've done to it. George, can you post some pics of your conversion progress? cheers, |
Mike: It's been a while hasnt it? My project was put on hold, unfortunetly I've been dealing with some other issues that have consumed most of my "fun" funds so........
In any case things are looking up for next year, I need to get out to the track again, I need my fix. Your car looks really good Mike - Only thing I would change if anyhing would be the mirrors to the old style black metal flag mirrors they used in 74. Other then that it looks perfect 10 to me. Are you doing any track days this month or next? Maybe I can get motivated just to see your car and run with you a few laps. Nice talking to you again, George |

What is the function of the splitter (aluminum piece under front valance). Does this improve aerodynamics significantly? or just look cool? provide stability to fiberglass?
|
Front end down force at speed.

I thought about the squaries, but wanted the curvy aero look of the later mirrors (I still owe Tinker $20 for that purchase...with accrued interest, it's probably more like $100 now :D ) Thanks for the kind words. JonT, The aluminum was free and I didn't charge myself labor for fabrication of the splitters, so it was a bargain :D ...as well as being functional. They're "sandwiched" around the fiberglass bumper. Cheers, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164832812.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1164832827.jpg |

My take on it. Ebay find, body was all done with steel flares. Added a carbed, twin plugged race 3.2 I picked up a few years ago. 23/31s, bronze bushings, Tarret sways, monoballs, re-valved Bilsteins, cage, fire system, minimal wiring, Rennshift, rebuilt trans, CCW/Kodiak wheels, street legal. Over 360 hrs on assembly, 100+ hrs on engine... Lou
