Recaro Pole Position mounting
I am about to buy new seats and was wondering if there are any issues to be aware of when mounting Recaro Pole Position seats without using sliders onto the stock mounting holes on the car. In the past I mounted Recaro SPGs and Sparco Evos in the same fashion with no problems. They went right onto the stock mounting holes. The SPGs on the standard side mounts and the Evos on some other mount. Can the same be done with the Pole Positions? Or will I require a special side mount like Brey Krause? The reason I ask is because every time I look at a Pole Position, the side mounts look exactly like the ones that used to come with the much narrower SPGs. Considering the fact that my old SPGs mounted perfectly, one would assume that a much wider seat on the same mounts would end up with the bolts too far apart to match the car. Unless I am mistaken and the Pole Position side mounts are different than the SPG.

Side mounts should be the same. Spacing should be a little different, but since the mounting brackets have oblong holes, you should be able to adjust the seat to fit in stock SC hole locations.

I've mounted both the PP and SPG on my 87. Even though the mounting brackets on the SC are different than the carrera, they are both 16" wide.
The PP mounts perfectly between 16" spacing using 90 degree angle side mount brackets. I assume with SPG, you used the side mount brackets that flared out on the bottom or used 90 degree brackets with the angles flipping out instead of in....if that makes any sense. Anyway, std side mount brackets work great on the PP.

The SPG seats that I used had the flared side brackets. So what you are saying is that the PP's side brackets have less of a flare or no flare? If that is the case than it sounds good. But then again, if you mounted them in your 87 with no sliders, or even with sliders since that does not change the width relationship, than all is good. If I may ask, how low did they sit. My SPG sat perfectly low with no sliders. Actually, the SPG's bottom was underneath the bottom of the actual sidebracket when viewed from the side. Very low and perfect. I wonder if the PP will be like that. How do you like that PP? My experience is only with SPG and EVO.

I have the PP bolted directly to the fixed floor rails on my '79 using Speedware side mounts. Works fine. Bottom of the seat is actually lower than the rail. Perfect driving position for me.
