Dow Corning 111
I haven't been able to find this stuff or anything similar anywhere. Automotion has quit carrying it. I'm replacing my heat exchangers with SSI's this weekend, and I'd like to replace my oil return tubes w/ collapsable ones at the same time.
I found this site (http://www.robertmckeown.com/dc111.htm) which has technical info on this stuff. It looks like its a dielectric, silicon grease w/ a high temp range. Would this be similar enough to Bosch distributor grease? What the real advantage of this stuff over just coating the o-rings w/ motor oil? ------------------ Greg 72 911S |

I use AmsOil 2000 synthetic grease to coat the orings on the piping for the turbo on our 1987 930 as well as the oil drain tubes. I also use it on the push rod tubes in my 914 race car and it works great. The Turbo plumbing gets pretty hot and the grease has never run. Good luck.

We have a Porsche/VW repair place in the San Diego area that carries it, but usually it an iundividual that sells it from their home, etc. I'd look in the phone book and depending where you live there may be some references on the internet. Good luck.

Go to Aircraft Spruce and Specialities, last time I used them they were in Fullerton CA. They carry DC-3 compound or go to any small airport in your area, ask the mechanics there where they get it. Also SalVan in Van Nuys CA has it as well.

Dow Corning 111 is sometimes not easy to find, but I found it at a hydraulic hose and parts place in an industrial park.
