				testing wur wires

just following up on some advice from Bentley's 911 SC 1978-1983 S. M. I pulled both the fuel pump, and the oxs relay. leaving the harness connected at the aux air valve. according to the bentley schematic , with the everything connected I should get 12v from the red/white wire from the two prong connector but I get nothing and thats with the ignition on. With the ignition off I tested the brn wires to ground and I get a signal saying it's grounded. So I test the wires with th relays pulled and the brns are still grounded but the red/whites which are supposed to be hot, register as grounded too. I tested the wires by running a wire to each relay boot, then to my fluke meter, one side to grd of course. I think i my have grounded hot leg. Can I by-pass the factoy wires to test my theory?

grounded hot wire = FIRE, or blown fuse if u are lucky. brn=ground.

do u have a problem or are u just checking/learning how it works? are u proficient with a mulitimeter. i always tell people to use a test light. lot less confusing for most. i will have to look, but if u have the relay out u wont have any power to the WUR. put it back in, stick the probe of a test light in each pin of the WUR plug, if it lights on one side then u have power, very simple that way.
