Source for 5amp fuse?
 

Anyone know where I can get a pack of just the yellow 5amp?

You might want to call our host - they might have a package of just the 5A.

Or you might pop into a pep boys, autozone, etc.

retail stores do not carry the 5's.
They are an oddball fuse

I got them from NAPA auto parts. It took the local store near my house 1 day to get them.

I got them at auto barn a while back.

Find a parts store that carries Littlefuse or Buss [or Bussmann] brand fuses and see if they can order a few boxes of GBC 5 fuses ... exact replacement in a ceramic/glass fuse:

I bought two boxes of each fuse needed for my baby at NAPA. They had them all in stock and were dirt cheap.

I just bought 8 German Car fuse kits at Walmart for $1.00 a pack. Walmart is dropping this item from their inventory and are clearancing them out. They come with a fuse puller, an an assortment of fuses, including the YELLOW 5amp fuse, and the rest of the normally used fuses. So, go check your local Walmart to see if they stil have any of them. I thought that $1.00 a kit was a pretty good deal. Just my $.02. SmileWavy

Both designs have their drawbacks ... aging and exposure to the elements can cause failures of both types -- even when there is no overload condition!

The glass tube design can fail at the internal solder joint ... and the failure will not be visible! Soldered pointed contact points don't seem to corrode as badly as the ceramic design.

The ceramic fuse design has no solder joints to fail, but corrosion at the ends' contact point can cause overheating of the fuse and fuseholder, and discoloration of the wire insulation for an inch or more back into the loom.
