please help with 1966 transmission i.d.
I have a 1966 Porsche 911 transmission that I want to i.d. I don't have a 65-67 technical specifications book which I think would help. Here is what all of the marking say:
39/66 ( I assume that means 3-9-1966 build date?) 901 301 101 OR serial number: 235825 I believe this to be a 1966, 911, 5 speed. It looks to be aluminum and not magnesium which is right for 66. Can anyone validate that that it is a 66 for me? Also it rare or "special" in anyway, for example special gears sets, Nurinburg or airport gearing, came from an "S" etc? Thank you, David Hanning

You need the number on the bottom 'seam' should be something like 901/1 901/2 etc.

The number on the bottom seam is 902/1. The transmission was in a 1965, 911 but the transmission was replaced with this one around 1970 in Europe.
Does 902/1 make it a 912? Thanks

902/1 boxes were used in 911s and 912s until 1968, I believe yours would be 39th week of 1966. I have a 902/16 in my 71' 911, cool unit and works great.
