There's nothing cooler to watch than a 911 catching air or crossing a river like that!

Interesting how you can see the "deficiencies" of the 911 as a rally car...when it goes to make that sliding handbrake turn, it's lack of front wheel drive won't pull the front end out of the way of the back end. So they have to be clear of the inside "curb" before really powering out of the turn.

(..did that make sense? )

I once rode with Eric Carlsson in a factory 99 Turbo rally car in the snow, in Sweden. He was faster. And way smoother...

The 911 was not really designed to be raced on snow.

I would much prefer a SAAB rally car with a two-stroke engine and two brake pedals.

rally rocks. I'm some pi$$ed that speed stopped broadcasting WRC this year. 300 php in he Puegot eh? And 2700 pounds. I like the fact that the numbers are more like real world cars.

GT3's rock too. Not my first choice for a rally car, but hey, if you got the money to not worry about damaging it, then by all means go for it.

The proof would ultimately be in the pudding. Put the same driver in a similarly prepared WRC car and GT3 and see what's fastest.

Do you or your friends ever compete against WRC cars Wim?

Good ol´Erik Karlsson "pĺ taket" (meaning "on the roof") from when he tipped over with the SAAB back in the days.

This was a great video! Non polluted with stupid "cool" music. Just the sound of the engine.

Why doesn´t Porsche take up rallying again ? They did very well a few decades ago with Vic Elford among others. I would like to see them team up again in the northern Swedish woods.

Does the WRC still have the 2 liter rule? I mean, the engines have to be a certain size (very small)? Maybe Porsche isn't interested in making small motors anymore...?

Jasper, my father did the rally-sprinting for many years here in Holland and was a 3 year in line overall winner
2 customers did the rally of Monte Carlo in the 80's, there where not really competitive to the WRC rally cars.
All WRC teams with factory big budget, like the 911 SC/RS (954) from Almeras and the Rothmans Factory Porsche team.
They where in 1st line of course.
Here are some old pics from the rallysprint.

Bravo!

I've come out recently with my dream, my goal in the next ten years. To run the Targa Newfoundland. A roll cage and some minor prep and my car is ready. I need a good co-driver though.....
