Porsche at LA Autoshow
I'm going next week but it sounds like an awesome display! No pics yet though..
From Automotive extremist - Hands down, the two coolest displays at the show belonged to Ferrari and Porsche, each manufacturer with its own private salon. The Ferrari display had everything from their latest F1 car to their latest production cars, including two 599GTBs. They also had a bright yellow '66 GTB for the old-line purists. What can we say? It was very cool. But my personal favorite was the Porsche display, which was a museum-like tribute to Porsche's adventures in the famous Targa Floria race in Sicily. Entering through a darkened, serene hall way, you're greeted by monitors mounted in the walls on either side, with classic racing footage videos playing. The hall leads you to a room with blown-up recreations of famous Porsche victory posters from that era encircling my favorite all-time Porsche racer ever - the incredible 908/3. The 908/3 was designed to win at two tracks and two tracks only - the Targa Florio and the daunting Nurburgring in Germany - and it was one of Ferdinand Piech's most outstanding pieces of work, before he went maniacal, of course. Let me just say that I could have lingered there studying that perfect little race car for hours. Porsche also had their contemporary cars on display and videos of their latest racer, the RS Spyder, playing for an up-to-the-minute glimpse of Porsche's racing endeavors. It was beautifully done, and other than the fact that you had to ignore the Cayenne (although interestingly, Porsche had a clearly calculated barrier separating their trucks from their authentic sports cars), it was simply spectacular. |

Looking forward to pics!
No better way to give credibility to your current vehicles than reminding everyone how good the past ones were.

Wish I could have gone. Sounds like the LA show kicked ash on the SF Auto Show. Very disappointing, IMO.

Atleast they had some of them unlocked so you can sit in 'em this year. Not all of them and certainly not the new 911 Turbo on the turntable. But they had the power off and the seat so far back I couldn't reach the peddles and couldn't get a feel for the driving position compared to my `87 Carrera.
