Racing front bushing be quieted down when installed new?
Can racing style front bushing (what like Elephants?) be quieted down when installed new?
Thank you. Regards, |
When I installed mine, they never made any noise at all.
|
You have Elephants? What do I need? bushings? sway links? Turbo tie rods and ball joints and I am all new?
|
You initial question is a bit ambiguous. Can you elaborate on exactly what you want to know?
|
My elephants are silent at the front. It's the stiff shocks that make all the noise.
BTW if I had to do it over again I would get the low friction mounts for the fronts. I think the shocks would be quieter over bumps if the a-arms moved up and down more freely. But this is just a perception, and without an identical car as mine with the low friction mounts in there, I am not sure my perception would change. I won't add them now, at least not just yet because I don't want to pull out the torsion bars and get another expensive alignment and corner balance, but if I ever upgrade my torsion bars I will. Chuck thanks! If I do put these in later, can I reuse my existing polybronze bushings? (Hope I am not stealing this thread, just curious and thought Bernard would like to know too.) :):) |
My Elephant bushings don't make any noise. But I have the low-friction mounts and I greased them well.
|
SP2. yes you can use them with all of your exsisting stuff.
Cheers |
I didn't get the low friction mounts but with a little work I got them to fit perfectly. The a-arms drop all the way down by their own weight.
They don't make any noise either. |
