Advance Preview: Photos from the Los Angeles Auto Show!!!

I took the day today to head over to the press day at the AutoShow. This year, they have moved the event up into December, so that it won't interfere with the Detroit show. I was not expecting too much, as I figured that everyone would be busy with holiday stuff.

Boy, I was wrong. The show was far more interesting to me than in past years. I can't put my finger on it, but there was lots to see. Check out the new Porsche 911 Targa, the GT3, and the RS Spyder on display. Also notable is the crashed Carrera GT from the upcoming movie, Redline. Our Governator Arnold was there too, and I shot some pics of him as he walked by.

Check out the preview link here:

My personal favorite with SWBSAM:

Yep, that would have to be one of my favourite pics aswell.
Thank you very much for the pics Wayne, were there anymore pics you had taken of the girls, whoops, ah, i mean the cars. Gotta love Arnie aswell. Now this movie Redline sounds interesting. Are the girls in the movie to, ah, I mean the cars, I mean, oh darn it, it's just such a distracting picture.

Great pictures! That Cayman is really growing on me. The new Targa looks nice, too. Anybody notice the number on the models dress?

A lot of great pictures!

Too bad about the ugly bumper pads. Ruins the lines of the rear. Particularly on the Cayman and Boxster. Compared to the Euro models, the US pads looks like an aftermarket fender kit.

Well, at least according to my personal taste..

lol, I thought livi was talking about the girls for a second then. What, those girls are wearing pads I was thinking to myself.
Oh Tezme, do try and focus on the cars!

I thought the same thing. It's a pretty distracting design item.

Another thing. The increasingly bulbous hood on the 911 looks awful to me. The classic low, sloped hood framed by bold fenders with more upright headlights has much more "attitude". Guess I'm an old fart.

Moving the girls to one side for a second (just a second though and no more). Moses is that a 911sc Targa you own with a 993 engine in it. My god, that must be amazing to drive. Ok bring the girls back now.

Wow, thanks for the pictures. Those are great.

And, I hate to say it, but the more and more I look at the CaymanS, the more I think it is heading in the right direction while the 997 is heading the wrong direction. Of course, that's just IMO.
And, yes, I'd do everything I could to try to get rid of those rear bumpers on it - it really detracts from the overall design. And I'd like to see a few different rear spoilers on it too, to see what it would look like. I really don't like the auto one that's on it.

I'll admit the new 997's are beautiful cars, but look at the relationship between the front fenders, headlights and hood. The newer 911s are becoming so "streamlined". The old IROC looks much more aggressive to me. Too bad the designers can't keep some of the old attitude. The newer cars are all looking a little "Nissan" to me.

Is Porsche getting too close to this?

It's great to drive. Even better when Tyson is driving it. Lots and lots of them on this board.

thanks for the pics !

what's the story behind this one?

I have to say that the new Audi looks to be an awesome car. If they will price it around 100k it will blow the M6 / 911 sale numbers away

I just read about this Cayman 3.8L and why Porsche doesn't want to build it

that seems like an awesome little toy !
