Locking lug nuts
Could use some help.. My wheel lock key seems to have gravitated from it's home in the glovebox. I am now wondering how to get my wheels off. I cannot weld to the nut, not use vice grips as I have turbotwist copies and the lugnuts are quite recessed. The lug lock looks like a male spline and the key, like a female spline. Has anyone got any ideas, or seen this type of wheel lock??
If I could find who made it, I think I could get another key.. Thanks in advance, and boy do I feel stupid |

Those sound like McGard locks ... if the shape is round, and elliptic on the side profile, and hardened steel (HEAVY) !!!
Better look REAL HARD for that key, or the original McGard warranty card ... it will have the key code and a card to send off. ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |

Actually, there is a tool to get wheel locks off. Not every shop has it but, if you call around, you should find a place that does. Lost wheel keys are a fairly common occurrence.
FYI: The tool set (6 pieces) is Mac Tools # LT4000C, and Snap-On Tools # YA1005C. I think they are the same thing, probably even made by the same company (maybe Lisle?) and just distributed by Mac and Snap-On. I don't have a price for the Mac set but the Snap-on set is $110.00!
