Fuel Injector cleaners??

Anyone recommend Fuel Injector additives for late 84-89 911s?

Porsche recommends Chevron Techron as a fuel system cleaner.

My Porsche mechanic also recommends Techron. I now use Chevron exclusively in my 911. He suggested one time to put in a can when my gas tank was sitting on a 1/4 tank to get maximum cleaning. My 80 SC used to take a few extra cranks to start when hot, but after his advice this situation no long exists. John

Bruce Anderson used to recommend SWEPCO 503, back in his newsletter in the Garretson days. I have used it, and like it better than Techron or B-12 Chemtool as gas additives go. Having to order it in advance, by the case is a pain, though!

Is it necessary to use Redline S1-2 to clean the injectors first then use swepco to maintain?

I have been using techron ever since the PCA praised the stuff. Kept my 944 engine going over 325,000 so far. Secret is to get the tank down to 1/8th - 1/4 then add one long neck bottle. Fill the tank to 1/2 with high octane and just drive. No need to beat the hell out of it. If you never used an injector cleaner or top end cleaner before, its recommended you do this back to back. BUT, remember this stuff does not combust and will stay in the oil and will thin it out. Use it at least 500 miles before an oil change. It's the best stuff around.......

When I was working on a Cherokee a while back, a mechanic told me that the BG formula 44 was the "only" cleaner that really did the job. I've used the techron on my porsche, but I was thinking that I would try the BG. The Cherokee's are prone to build-up on the intake and combustion chamber. Probably more than any other car I've worked on. And the stuff did the trick. Has anyone used this on CIS?
