Question 79 911SC to add a difefernt rear whale tail, and drill the airbox cover..plz advise

Hi there, here is my car now. I like the look of the rubber part of the carrera tail. SO can I somehow change out the rubber lip to make it larger or do I need a whole new whale tail? If so anyone out there interesred in a swap? or sale?

Also was given advice froma Porsche Mech that i should drill out my air box cover and that it would give a bit better performance and sound. I see that done on some 82's and later, is tere anything I should be concerned about if I do this? If water gets through on a rainy day would that pose issues? I see some peole remove the cover all the way and run aK&N filter with no cover? Whats advice.

Latly, the emissions went thru fine and now I m good for 5 years. Soem one suggested to remove the belt from the pump, but mentioned it would get worse fuel economy. Advise?

Thanks!!!!

This biggest gain from drilling the airbox is noise. Not much if any more power. And yes you run the risk of water getting on the filter and posing a problem if you drill your airbox lid.

In Bruce Anderson's Performance Handbook, he tested stock filter, K&N and no filter on an engine dyno. The stock filter provided the most HP.

You don't need to drill holes in your airbox, you need to find a new mechanic. quick. Yours does not know what he is talking about.

Drilling holes in the airbox of an SC only give you holes. It does absolutely nothing for performance.
There is no benefit. None.

IIRC Bruce's tests showed that no filter provided more power than the stock filter but there was no difference between with air box cover and without airbox cover
