A/c standard in a 1981 911sc?
Hi all,
Does somebody knows if the a/c was coming as standard in a 911sc of 1981? I am looking for one and the owner says it doesnt come with it, but as i understood from Info, a/c was standard from 1980. Is this correct? Or there were post-80 SCs without it? Where is the a/c switcher in the car? Regards Regards |

I'm pretty sure they were optional. I just finished overhauling my AC and to be totally honest, unless you live in Dallas, Phoenix, or Florida, I'd just forget the AC and thank your lucky stars and the good folks in Germany for leaving it off your car.

Definitely not standard in German delivery cars. My 83 has never had it. However, every 81 to 83 US market car that I have seen had it. I think that it was charged as an option, but all of the US market cars got ordered this way.

From Patrick Paternie's Porsche 911 Red Book:
"1980: In the US, air conditioning, power windows, black window trim, and a leather covered...steering wheel became standard." It's a book worth having if you are shopping ![]()

Thanks,
I think i found that info in a USA Porsche site. That is why it was saying "from 1980 a/c was standard". Thanks Quote:
