permatune tech help
Hello guys remember me? I'm the guy with the 88 930 with permatune ignition problems...Well the voltage regulator took it's toll on the unit and Lonnie at permatune tested it and it failed their last test before dying permanently no pun intended...But they are standing behind their product and are sending me a new unit free of charge! Even though it was the voltage regulators fault. A big thanks to them and their help.Evidently, one of the solder joints at the noise capacitor was loose or intermittent connection..anyway the message is check your voltage outputs at the battery...in my case i could smell it...regards ihope this helps someone in the same boat jer

Glad to hear you had some good luck in the end! I realize it is a little late for you, but I feel strongly that one additional add-on that most 911 owners never even consider, could have warded off your burnt-up Perma-Tune long before a battery would have started smelling! A small VDO Cockpit expanded-scale Voltmeter would have told you of your Voltage regulator's problem the minute it went above 15 Volts! To me, a Voltmeter is more useful than a clock on the dashboard of a 911! ------------------ Warren Hall 1973 911S Targa |
