fender oil cooler bumper cutout?
Read about this in 101 Projects and would like input from the team?
I have a pristine '88 Carrera coupe (105k) that is totally stock, never rusted or wrecked, except for lowering and replacement steering wheel. I dont want to chop this hole if the value of it is minimal to the car. I live in Everett WA about an hour north of Seattle. It can get very warm in the summer though this year was milder than '05. Max temp seen on gauge this year was half way between upper mark and redline. Also seeking input on the improved A/C kits offered in some of the major Porsche magazines....? Thanks, Val |

I think you are referring to the bumper cutout that was already standard on your car. I have an 89 Carrera and the bumper cutout is there - just have a look under your indicator light on the passenger side of the car.

Coincidently, I just cut a notch in my bumper yesterday in the course of replacing my bumper "smile". While the bumper was off I replaced the horns, too. The aluminum bumper cut slowly but cleanly with a conventional jig saw, and two drill holes for the sharp corner cuts. I trimmed the notch with grey wire bundle sleeving. I have no temp problems (heavy duty fender cooler) but with the bumper off I couldn't help myself.

member Makaio lives in Sacremento and uses the marker replacement scoop on his 3.2. He said it's good for 10F oil temp decline.

Thanks all and a tip of the hat to rdrr and k-jetronic, my '88 has the notching on the underside of the bumper. Decided to add the PP scoop after the holidays and then do evals in the spring.
You guys are awesome....again thanks! Happy Holidays to all.... |
