Webber idle adjustment.
 

OK, I have been on the 914 tech page for a while now. I recently moved up to a stock 914-6 with 40 - Webber's on it. It is idling about 700 or so, and I would like to bump it up to around 900. I have done multiple searches and have found many threads with carb adjusting on them, but what I have not been able to fine is what screw (s) on each carb need to be adjusted to bring the idle up a public hair, and which direction bring the speed up, clockwise or counter clockwise. Sorry to have to invade on the 911 page, but I had no choice! Thanks in advance for the help.:D

Oops! Strike one B from the record. I have done a couple of searches, lots of info, none call any of the screws by the same name, and there are no pictures that show the screw with the names next to them (that i have seen so far). I am just looking for a quick and dirty answer, it's the screw with the spring on it, turn it out to speed the idle, screw it in to slow the idle. Something like that. Any help?:confused:

I'm not familiar with your set up but look for an idle stop screw on each carb. As you move the linkage, it will stop against the screw when the throttle plates are in the closed or idle positin.

It ""should"" be only 1 screw per bank. That screw should work the entire linkage on each carb. You'll need a flow meter to make sure that both carbs are drawing the same amount of air. Once both carbs are drawing the same amount of air and the idle is correct you'll probably have to the tighten the pivot arms so you'll get full throttle.

Again, I could be totally wrong as I'm not familiar with triple carbs.

its been a long time since i had webers. the idle screws are on the ends of the carbs, towards the front close the the linkage. move the linkage and u will see where it comes to rest on the idle screw. turn both screws, one for each carb, about a 1/8 of a turn CW. u should get a unisyn/synchrometer if plan on working on them. u use it balance each cylinder.

Standing at the engine while it's running, rev the engine by pulling on the thottle linkage assembly. You'll clearly see where a screw moves with the linkage and rests against a stop on each carb. That's what you adjust. Turn both screws the same amount, clockwise to increase rpm's. A synchrometer will check how well the two carbs are in sync with each other. Our host's 101 Projects book has good photos. I recommend this book.
