Odometer too fast???????
I am almost certain my odometer is 5 to 10 mph to fast. The car has new tires. And is also new to me.
Any way to check this. And fix the problem. Thanks |
What size wheels and tires? What year is your car?

My car's speedo/odo definitely seems a little fast to me too and I recently had it worked on because the odo wasn't turning. (they took it apart and put it back together) I have 205-60-R15's all around on a 77 which is one of the recomended tire sizes. I just assumed this is normal. The only real disadvantage is it accumulates miles faster thus decreasing resale value.

Strep,
I had a speed-based encounter with the TX Dept. of Public Safety in March (if you know what I mean!). Was cited for 82 in a 70, with the speedo only saying maybe 65! OUCH! In addition to the speedo problem, my trip odometer quit working altogether. Checked things out and found Rick Borth in Austin, TX: http://www.speedometer.com/ Seems legit. I'm in a job transition now, so I've not had the work done yet, but once settled I plan on using him. He responded very quickly with the following quote: John , Est 100 to replace odometer gear and an additional 25 to calibrate plus shipping. Thanks, Rick Borth Hope this helps! ------------------ John "Cotton" Clark 1985 911 Cabriolet (that needs some TLC!) |
