It just quit...!

78 911 SC (Orange!) Driving to work...car was running beautifully until the off-ramp. Car died and would not restart. No rough running, no indication of a problem. Tested for spark...OK. Tested for fuel....

My question...does the fuel pump activate with the ignition key turned to the right without starting the car. Most electric pumps I'm familiar with "hum" when you turn the key on...without attempting to start. Mine
does not "hum"...nor can I get a DC volt reading at the terminals with the key on.

Sound like a fuel pump relay (the red one)? How do I test at the relay box?

you can test the fuel pump without running the engine to see if you hear it humm. remove the relay and run a jumper wire between 87a and 30 on the relay SOCKET.turn the key to on and listen.
