I googled "rubber plugs" and saw a few options...

A certain East Coast Porsche dealer who everyone else seems to source parts from has a huge range of plastic plugs as well. If 30mm or smaller would do it, they got it! A whole 81 cents too. Betcha our hosts would be helpful as well. Wayne and the guys seem to have just about everything in the Porsche parts world hiding in their warehouse somewhere...

cheers

Go to any good hardware store of the sort--not Home Creepo--that has a couple hundred drawers of fasteners, lamp finials, peanut bulbs, washers, s/s bolts and furniture knobs and you'll find several filled with both plastic and metal plugs for various purposes, in various sizes. Paint it black.

Sounds like a song...

mount a push button there

the button could control the laser cannon or some other such useful anti-RV weapon

Just replace the dash pad and cover it up. Those are relatively easy to get used on the PP Parts BBS or Ebay...and inexpensive. NOS is often available also.

If you search the PPBBS parts for sale thread...or post a "want to buy" ...you will probably find a deal. Lots of SCs parted out...not so much demand for those as they are in a relatively protected spot and do not usually get the abuse of other interior parts.

IMHO, don't do any of the above.

I had the EXACT same hole, and it too was cut because of a POS alarm key pad. If you want it to look right, you have two choices --

1. Check around with the various used parts houses, swap meets, etc. and buy that piece of the dash. They're out there. I know, because I have one. Then, replace the vinyl piece with the hole it it.

2. Have one of those guys who does dashboard and interior repairs come in and fill it. That's what I did to have mine fixed, and it looks almost perfect. Maybe not concours, but I think it looks darn good. See for yourself...

Sorry about that. Computer glitched (probably the operator). Here's a picture. Disregard the whitish look on the dash at the repair site...it isn't there in "real life" and must be a flash reflection.

The guy first fashioned a plastic backing. Then he filled the hole with a putty compound and let it dry. Then he put a finish layer of the compound on the surface, feathered the edges, and textured it to match the existing texture. When that dried, he spray-painted it with a paint made for vinyl. I had him do a few other things in the interior, and I think the entire bill was $125, IIRC.

I hope this helps.

Scott

Now that I think about it, mine had four smaller holes surrounding the larger hole. Obviously, the smaller holes were repaired at the same time as the large one.
