Using Pressure Brake Bleeder-930 System
A recent attempt to bleed my 930 brakes, by a "resident brake bleeder expert" ( long story ) , resulted in 1 liter of ATE Blue getting pumped out the reservoir overflow.
I've read the respective brake bleeding "tech" article within this WebSite, and searched the various topics on the BB, but have a question: when using a pressure bleeder on a 911/930 , may I assume the overflow line that comes out of the reservoir simply needs to be pinched off prior to actual appication of pressure to the system ? If so, any hints as to the best way to to this ? |

Yes, you are correct in assuming that the overflow hose needs to be eliminated from the system during bleeds. If not, as you noted, all of the new fluid will be wasted. I regularly use a pressure bleeder on my 911 SC and have come up with a simple solution. I cut a short length (about two inches) of flexible vinyl tubing with the same inside diameter of the overflow line. I hose clamped a bolt into one end of this piece of tubing. When I need to bleed the brakes, I remove the overflow line from the reservior and replace it with the short hose/bolt combo. This piece can just be pushed on, not clamped. I haven't had it forced off during bleeding. Good luck, Jess |

On my '87 Carrera I used a pair of vice grips on the end of the plastic tubing. It was easy to find the tubing (under the car - in front of the left front tire) I just looked up from the rapidly forming puddle that occured shortly after starting to pressurize the master cylinder.
I used a power bleeder from Motive Products - WWW.MotiveProducts.com - $44.95 Great product! They also advertise in Panorama. Charlie '87 Carrera |

Bought the pressure bleeder you mentioned early last week. Yesterday, bleed the brakes, cappped off the overflow line in a similiar manner as you described, and all went well ! |
