gutted muffler input...again

Hey everyone,
Well I just finished gutting my muffler last week for my '84 Carrera and here's a picture of what I've done. This picture is what my muffler now looks like on the inside. Since I didin't actually take a picture of my muffler when it was open (duh...I forgot), I've done a little art work to a picture I've found here on Pelican. I wanted to keep the single in/out aspect of my muffler and didn't want it too loud so I went easy on gutting, perhaps I would gut more next time as it is still pretty quiet. I'm not really sure if I've done it correctly, but it sounds a little better anyway. My main concern is: did I gain any performance out of doing what I've done? Did I hurt performance? Could I have done things differently to get more out of my muffler without going to 2 out? I would like some input from those who have done this and kept the single in/out version to compare notes. I have another spare muffler to try this again if I've done something wrong. I've read all the threads on doing this and see most have done the dual out. Also, for a little background on my 3.2 specs, I have a cat bypass, K&N cone and a Welt chip.

Thanks much,

Frederic

Is that the stock '84 muffler?

re: performance, I dunno - but the EFI for sure is not set up for the muffler in its current configuration. So there could be a change and random changes away from the design spec. are probably not improvements. How much money can you afford for dyno time?

That is the stock '84 muffler that was on my car. The picture is after the modification, notice that there's no more insulation, and that the inlet pipe in the far right baffle has been cut shorter as that pipe is capped when stock.
