Idle creep?

Car is a stock '79. When I start it cold, motor hunts for a minute then settles in @ a nice 900/950. However, after fully warm (upon driving a few miles), the idle ends up @ 1000/1100. Any idea what would cause this?

Sounds like your AAR is not working correctly to raise your cold idle up, so someone has raised your idle speed to compensate.

It's also possible your control pressures (WUR) are off, or you have an air leak.

aux. air regulator. on my car, 77, it is located on right side of motor between 5 and 6 intake runners. it has an electrical connector on it. shouild have 12v on one pin, gnd on the other. its name is a little decieving in that it does not "regulate" anything, it just bypasses some extra air around the throttle plate to raise the idle when cold. good place to start. an air leak would make it run lean which = popping or backfiring.
WUR = warm up regulator. its name is deceiving too in that it does more than just control pressure during warm-up. control pressure regulator might be a better name for it.

No popping or backfiring. Car runs, idles smoothly. Only issue is as mentioned. After car runs for awhile, idle sits around 1000/1050 rpms.

What/where is the WUR?

I had the same symptoms. Turned out my AAR wasn't even hooked up. It's easy to test. Pull off the hose on the right side and get a mirror and flashlight. Inside you'll see a small disc that partially blocks the hole. Apply 12V to the conneciton and the disc will slowly rotate blocking the hole completely.
