Twin Plugged Engines - Which wires?
For those of you with twin plugged engines, what plug wires did you use? 964 wires?
I need to replace the wires on twin plugged 3.3 turbo motor, and did a search and found A LOT of info on twin plugging, but couldn't find anything specific on what wires you all were using? I know it may vary on location of the distributor, etc. Thanks, Bill |
I twin plugged my 3.2 and I used a new OE one for the top, my old one for most of the bottom and then replaced a few of the shorter cables with some spares that my shop had. You'll know when you lay them out which ones work.

Are you running a crank fire set up or a 964/993 distributor or a converted single distributor that uses a 12 terminal cap? Each combo requires a different set of ends at the distributor. Also, what valve covers you are using (911 or 964) can play a role also in the selection of the plug end.
You can use factory style, magnacor, clewett or get the pieces and build them yourself. JBRacing and Kingsbourbe come to mind as places where you can buy the individual parts to build them. Cheers |
Thanks Jeff. I am using a crank fire set up. It has 911 valve covers on it modified for the second set of plugs. Currently it has magnacors on it, and it is the only part of the converstion that is somewhat questionable.
I appreciate the feed back. Bill |
Do you have the standard GM style coil like the ones in my pic or their equivelant? If so, give Clewett a call and get a set of his wires, I am about to do the same!

I'll have to check, I am currently out of town for work. With the intercooler its kind of a PITA to see them, and its a new car and all..
