Would like to know what you meant by "adjusting the tail". If you left the cable mechanism alone, you may have shifted something to slightly mis align the bayonet in relation to the catch. Either the bayonet is hanging up on the moving tang or the body of the catch itself. Since there is no way of getting into the engine compartment, the only hope that you have is to get a buddy to pull on the lid realease as you push down and jiggle it around. The bayonet is most likely just hanging on the edge of something and moving the lid around 1/32" -1/8" may free it up. Just push down, push to left, right, forward, backward, and each time trying to lift the lid. Chances are, since the bayonet did go into the hole, you will get it out. Just consider yourself lucky that the cable didn't break or slip off the latch. Good luck, Allan

Great news, as you figured out, it just takes a little patience. So what was the magic bean that popped it open? Allan
