Wheels Turning
Today, I placed my 86 911 on jack stands to adjust the parking brake. To be sure the brake was not too tight, and actually disengaging fully, I started the car to confirm that the e-brake light went out when the handle was released. I was surprised to find that with the engine running and transmission in neutral the wheels where spinning slowly in a forward direction. When I stopped them with my hand and then removed my hand from the wheel, they started to spin again.
Is there sufficient vibration from the engine to cause the wheels to spin slowly? Is this normal? Thanks |

Yes, perfectly normal!
Even with the transaxle in neutral ... the input shaft is still turning, and viscous drag due to the gear oil presence can still impart some small amount of torque on the pinion/output shaft.
