Vitesse Racing Wasted Spark Ignitions?

Just curious to know if any of you guys have used (or know of anyone who has/is using) the Vitesse Racing Wasted Spark Ignition system for the Motronic based cars?

They developed this system for the 944/951's and also have a model for the 911 Carreras too.

I want to go twin plug soon and their system could be a viable solution, instead of running a twin dizzy and twin MSD/Crane ignition system.

Anyone?

Merv,

I just installed the Vitesse Wasted Spark ignition system. I wired the WS through the Vitesse Piggyback which will allow me to tune the advance/retard with my laptop. I can confirm that the system is easy to install. You do have to fabricate some brackets, but that's no biggy. I hope to do some performance runs in the next couple of weeks after which I'll report back.

Rgs,

Trog,
How has this system worked out for you. Just saw your picture in another thread and the engine bay looks real clean. Stupid question but where are the plug wires?

Keith,

I ordered a custom set of Magnecors and ran the ignition wires along the frame rails. The ignition coil-pack is mounted just behind the blower in the photo below. Makes for a very clean-setup.

As far as installation goes, it was a breeze. I mounted the controller under the drivers seat and used a piece of plexi for a back-plate. There are no adjustments required to get the system up and running. However, if you want to custom tune the ignition, then a piggy-back module would be required. The PB-module intercepts the incoming tach and timing signals, and can be biased to advance and retard timing across the rev-range. Not for the faint of heart. I have the PB, but have yet to make any tuning changes. Perhaps this summer if I can get some dyno time.
