correct Idle speed

Hello again. My question is what is the ballpark idle speed for a 88 911. If I'm not mistaken, mine is around 850 to 900, give or take. The reason I ask is at times it seems to hunt for that comfort zone. thanks in advance.

You are correct @ 850 ~ 900 rpm. When does it hunt? Mine only hunts upon initial start-up. After 30 secs., it settles in @ 900. If yours continues to hunt, I believe it could be a vacuum leak issue (among other things). Someone more knowledgable will most likely chime in soon.

thanks for your reply. It basically idles at 900, but drops to 850 at all times. Just started recently. Is there a easy way to test the vacuum hoses?
