Anyone running coilovers in place of torsion bars?
Yesterday, while at the Parts Heaven Concours/ Swapmeet, the subject came up about using coilovers as a way to eliminate the torsion bar tube in order to fit a G50 without having to go the very pricey route of the shortened tranny conversion of Patrick Motorsport.
Sounds like a great idea. Anybody have any experience and where do I get coilovers? Regards, Joe Garcia 86 Carrera |

What do you have in mind? Are looking just to change to a G50? This is going to be pretty costly. Would it be possible to find an 87 to 89 rather do this. I have seen G50's done for early Turbo conversions to eliminate the 4 speed. The only problems with coilovers is the amount of room available to place these, or so I am told. Best of luck regardless.

Check the smartracing web site. They list all the goodies for doing coil-over conversions and have many other cool goodies to spend a fortune on. (935 suspension parts) I think the C/O coversion was not too bad $$
hope that helps david 89 turbo cab [This message has been edited by 5axis (edited 10-11-2000).] |
