connector problem on 915 starter
Hi all,
while refitting the starter on the 915 after a work on the gearbox, I noticed a broken part ![]() ![]() Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there are any wire connecting here : the red wire and the wire coming from the battery connect on the big thread on the right, and the yellow wire goes on the thread on the left. So is the little piece of brass important ![]() You help is appreciated (last step after a 3 month engine off) Phid75- |

broken solenoid, simply (well not so simple) find a replacement and mount it to your starter and all should be good. PM me as I may know of a source for the solenoid.

I like your optimistic point of view. The solenoid is lunched, kaput, dead, NG, finito, broken. Not sure if the starter was the culprit or the solenoid decided to do this on its own, but it has passed the repair stage.
Minimally, a rebuilt or new solenoid is needed, but not knowing what's going on inside the motor, I'd opt for a complete unit. Despite the condition of yours, I think it does qualify as a core. However, you could try this. It's lighter, provides more torque and might be cheaper than other options. No affiliation, and I'm thinking of it too. Sherwood |

Nice find Sherwood...may buy one of these as a backup as that is damn near what I paid for just the solenoid. Mine broke just as his did, nothing cause by the engine rather the plastic was old and brittle and broke when I disconnected the starter for an engine drop.
