clutch cable

In a DE a couple of weeks ago, it got more and more difficult to downshift into 2nd without a slight grind. Could this be the cable stretching? It does fine on the street or at an autocross.

perhaps you were to focussed on the DE, to self aware of the way you did the footwork , heelNtoein'g and rev matching and whatnot, that you didnt stomp the clutch far enough? while at normal driving , you are doing it instinctively and far enough?

cable can't stretch more in DE then in Autocross, so that doesn't add up to me, unless it started during DE, and then continued on in normal driving and autocross?
