Keeping the battery charged
Can anyone advise me whether I am likely to run into any problems using a battery conditioner on my 86 Carrera 3.2 over the winter?
As the car will not be used very much over the next few months and I want to keep the battery charged while keeping the alarm and imobilisor active I was thinking of using a conditioner hooked up whenever the car is stored. Will it cause any problems with the engine management or charging systems? ------------------ Alan Brown 86 Carrera 3.2 |

Shouldn't be a problem, and in fact Porsche itself sells its own trickler charger to do exactly what you are proposing to do!
I've used trickle chargers on many cars and motorcyles, including DME cars, and have never had a problem |

Sears makes a trickle charger just like the kind you see in Performance for about $25. I hooked up the two leads and attached the small unit close by. Now to charge for extended times, I just plug in the charger and its done, very simple.
