Thinking about backdating my SC. Two questions.

I have sorting though the "Ultimate backdating thread" on my holiday reading list. My plan is to turn my SC into an RS clone with metal front fenders and the hood and rear in MA Shaw or Rennspeed fiberglass.

(1) Is hanging body panels possible for an amateur wrench like me. Is there any welding involved?

(2) What about insurance? My Leland-West policy specifically mentions modifications as a no-no. I assume that every few years they may ask for pics of the car.

Those are my main concerns.
